The Artwork

Suspended Blossom

Against a soft background of flowing alcohol ink that guides the composition's direction, intricate layers of straight, running, and bullion stitches emerge like weightless, blooming flowers. Grigorova’s signature golden thread - a metaphorical "vine of life" woven through subtle clusters of ochre French knots, acts as another feature connecting the botanical forms. Fan-like thread bursts shape elegant petals, accented by a rich mix of new and salvaged glass beads that balance the airy, negative space of the canvas.

Both artworks are original commissions and are the exclusive property of Royal Thai.

A Bloomed Constellation

An explosion of maximalist texture, A Bloomed Constellation (pictured right), allows the spontaneous flow of a celestial alcohol ink wash to dictate where the needle lands. Winding pathways of gold and lilac yarns snake across the canvas, alongside intricate running, straight, and bullion stitches that form magnificent floral structures. The 'Golden Thread', clusters of gold and ochre French knots serve as an added detail weaving through the rich composition, while new and salvaged glass beads gather like stardust across the surface.

It started at the Met

Recolored and subtly refined after its debut at the Met, this rug is thoughtfully crafted from a premium blend of wool and silken fibers. Alternating cut and loop stipples thoughtfully mirror the structural contrast between raised French knots and flat satin stitching. In doing so, they carefully interpret the varied stitch weights of hand embroidery, shaping them into a rich, sculptural depth that quietly unfolds with every step taken across its surface.

Mirroring the permanent lock of an embroidery stitch, every Axminster yarn is woven entirely through to the carpet backing. The result is a high-performance foundation of unparalleled durability, structural stability, and pattern clarity that keeps Botánica's vibrant, intricate details flawless under heavy foot traffic.

The Axminster designs in this collection are designed in a range of pattern repeats to accommodate diverse spatial requirements. This specific Axminster design is engineered at a grand scale, making it ideal for large, high-traffic spaces like ballrooms and pre-function areas.

By blending wool with SilkenHT, this composition strikes an elegant balance between texture and tone. Winding stria and loop stipples mirror the free-flowing, meandering lines of couching work, while the clean, solid cuts forming the fanned petals replicate the rich, concentrated density of traditional satin stitching.

About Botánica

A single thread can carry an entire story, whether in embroidery or in a carpet—guided with quiet intention, shaped with gentle imagination, and revealed in a beauty that endures. This is a shared craft of balance, care, and vision, where the artisan’s hands patiently turn simple fibers into rich, three-dimensional landscapes.

Royal Thai collaborated with artist Manoela Grigorova of Mojo & Muse to create Botánica. Her deep devotion to the expressive potential of thread, and her thoughtful, handcrafted process, are at the core of this collection. Through her careful attention to intricate details, layered textures, and varied materials, each canvas gains a resonant depth that both honors and reflects the precise, sculptural nature of carpet making.

Together, we have sought to bring the intimacy and elegance of fine embroidery to larger textiles for the hospitality world. By bringing these two cherished traditions together, we hope to encourage you to look again—with openness and quiet curiosity—at what you know about how carpets and embroidered artwork are created. Within every piece lies more time, care, and devotion than you might expect—and a sincere invitation to be moved by the stories that unfold beneath your feet and before your eyes.
